 WORD FORMATION


I. Neologisms:

                  


 Neologism is a ideology is used to refer to new type of words, terms or phrases that have been archieved recognition in public and is gradually considered to be accepted in official dictionary. It presents how fast human can adapt to a new word both in term of form and meaning of that word. In additionally, show the similarity in the word formation process in a language.

II. Etymology:

 Etymology is the study of origin and evolution of word's meaning across time. It is a subfield of linguistics, philology and semiotics. It goal is to to construct a chronological list of all the meaning of word, sign, morpheme or phoneme has carried across the history based on comparative semantics, morphology, pragmatics, and phonetics.

III. Borrowing:
 Is the process of creating new English words. This work by borrowing words from different countries to label it for objects and abstract concepts which gradually became common in use resulting in these words are considered officials English words.

IV. Compounding:


 The combination of two separate words to form a single word. The combination can happen between two nouns, adjectives or in some cases a adjective can be combined with a noun.

V. Clipping:


 Is a type of reduction used in a word with more than one syllable. Commonly use in casual speech. This process is more noticable than blending. It's believe that this method is used to make spelling more easier and faster in speaking.

VI. Conversion:


 Is the change of the function of a word such as a noun is conversed to a verb. Other name of this process is called "category change" and "functional shift" 

VII. Coinage:
 Is a word formation process that create new words which mostly use in daily talk. The source of these words come from commercial products that eventually became general term such as the word zipper, nylon or vasline, ...
 Eponyms are the words based on name of a person or a place. These words can act as a verb or noun that have their meaning  refer to the name of that person or place.

VIII. Derivation:


 Is the word formation process that changes the base of the words, or applies affixes to it. Affixes are English language that are not usually have their own category for example, the elements un-, mis-, pre-, -ful, -less, -ish, -ism and -ness.

IX. Multiple processes:
 This state that the formation of a word can involve multiple word formation processes. The conditions for these type of words to be formed can have a lot of reasons. But most of the words formed through multiple processes in common have a very short life-span.
